The landslide victory by the United Democratic Congress(UDC) in last week’s national election and the palpable emotion of voters was visible at the inauguration of the country’s sixth president, His Excellency Advocate Duma Boko, at the Botswana National stadium today in Gaborone, Botswana.
It’s a hot day in one of the most anticipated election days in Botswana’s 58 year democracy, due to epic build caused but by conflict amongst the country’s influential political leaders.
Like some other polling stations, the queues were long in the morning but there were few people in the afternoon, marking a good day at the office for many.
The red colours of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party(BDP) dominated the precinct of the city centre as the President’s of the competing parties at the upcoming general elections arrived to submit their names for approval before the Chief Justice Terence Rannowane today.
