The fledgling 501 Lounge and Liquor Restaurant in Modipane will on Saturday host an Old School party for mature revellers with a love for Splash genre, a mix of disco and mapuntsula music originally popularized in the densely populated townships of South Africa.
It will feature old school female quartet of By4, Bafana Kunene, Khoza, Tafula Madiba and Ludwa. A host of local DJ’s will precede the main shows as supporting acts.
“This time we are targeting a much more mature audience because we recognize a need for inclusivity because this is the last event of the year,” said Oteng Kepatwaemang, Marketing Manager for 501Lounge and Liquor Restaurant.
Entrance is free from 2 pm to midnight as Modipane is expected to be serenaded with old school music.
2023 will begin with a bang for residents of this small rural village not far from Gaborone business district.
The female quartet who comprise By4 launched in 1998 and celebrated 20 years in the music industry in 1998.
Their top 50 music songs include Ujola Nami, Mi Yanga, Bhiza, Vhayafana, Anitakali, Amasiko, Magatyeni, Usizi and Thins.
