The Ministry of Transport and Public Works has advised members of the public that the on-going rains country wide have the potential to destroy road infrastructure in some areas. Bridges and homes in some areas were destroyed during this period.
The public is therefore advised to be cautious on the roads by following the outline driving safety tips;
a. Avoid crossing through flooded areas as water can be deeper than it appears
b. Switch on parking lights during prevailing overcate conditions for visibility and use hazard lights to warn others of the eminent danger
c. Drive at low speed to avoid car skidding and avoid braking abruptly as the roads are slippery
d. Maintain a safe distance when driving to avoid collusion with the car in front should brake or stop abruptly
e. Ensure windshield wipers are in good condition to help assist visibility
f. Pedestrains are encouraged to wear reflective clothing for visibility during overcaste conditions.
