The Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) has released the Second and Last Supplementary Voters Rolls for the twenty-one (21) days statutory inspection period, in accordance with Section 15 of the Electoral Act on the 5th July 2024.
The statutory inspection of the rolls will be done from the 5th to the 25th July, 2024 in all the sixty-one (61) constituencies.
Copies of the rolls are available for inspection at the office of the Secretary to the Commission, as well as those of District Commissioners, Council Secretaries/Town Clerks and Chief Elections Officers/Principal Elections Officers around the country.
Similarly, for the convenience of voters, the Commission has provided copies of Polling District (Council Ward) rolls at some dikgotla in each constituency for Batswana residing there to have an opportunity to participate in this critical process,” said Jeff Siamisang, Secretary of the Independent Electoral Commission(IEC).
It is also important to note that the Commission has One Hundred and Ninety-Seven Thousand and Twenty-One (197, 021) voters validly registered in this roll, spread across the 61 constituencies.
There are also Three Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty-Nine (3,139) voters whose registrations were rejected for three main reasons: 2,975 were rejected because of being already validly registered elsewhere, whilst 130 registered having not met the minimum age requirement.
There are also 34 who were rejected because their Omang Numbers do not exist.
Consequently, all Batswana who have registered for the October 2024 General Elections during the Second and Last Supplementary Voters Registration Exercise from the 20th to the 31%, May 2024, are strongly advised to visit the places where the rolls have been placed for inspection.
It is a voter’s responsibility and right to inspect the rolls with a view to perfect it so that there are no queries on the day of the General Elections.
