Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) Chief Executive Officer Thapelo Tsheole officially launched the Investor and Listings Conference, in its third year by indicating that it will be officially opened by incoming President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
The event which will be held on the 8th March 2018 at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) will include a lineup of exciting speakers who will be engaging on issues like cryptic currencies, predicting the future and listing innovative products on the bourse.
“The main idea is to attract listings and spread message of listing as much as possible. We are working on a number of companies to encourage them to list,” said Tsheole.
BSE revenue income has grown by about 17% in the current financial year and a bulk of that money was employed to new offices. The youthful Chief Executive jokingly remarked that he was hoping to place a big bull in front of the BDC building housing the BSE with ‘big testicles.’
The event has four key sponsors Choppies Group, Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL), Rantao Kewagamang Attorneys and Monthe Marumo law firm
Catherine Lesetedi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BIHL Sure, said that the success or failure of any institution was essentially built on its adherence on good governance. She lauded Botswana’s development as a financial centre.
“This Conference is a testament to our belief in the listing process,” said Lesetedi.
BSE has a number of outreach programmes.
“Conference is a perfect opportunity of alignment to educate clients and public at large,” said Ms Kelly Kewagamang of Rantao Kewagamang Attorneys.
She said, “It is the single biggest meeting of business community. We want to encourage our clients to explore use of bourse for wealth creation.”
