Fears grow of spread of listeriosis
The Ministry of Health and Wellness has advised members of the public to avoid eating products manufactured and/or packaged by Enterprise (Bokkie, Renown, Lifestyle and Mieliekep) and Rainbow (Polony, Russian and Viennas) as fears grow over the spread of listeriosis from neighbouring South Africa.
These products are imported into Botswana from South Africa and are part of the local distribution and retail chain.
“The Ministry of Health and Wellness has issued a mandatory recall to all supermarkets, shops, distributors, transporters and importers of the above indicated ready to eat meat products with immediate effect,” said Richard Matlhare, Permanent Secretary for the The Ministry of Health and Wellness.
He said, “The public is hereby informed that customers who bought any of the affected products manufactured by Enterprise (Bokkie, Ronown, Liefstyle and Mieliekip) and Rainbow (Polony, Russian and Viennas) to return them to the respective shops for a full refund.”
