Speaking at the launch, Botswana Post CEO, Mr. Cornelius Ramatlhakwane highlighted the unique essence of Poso Gospel Icon, stating, “This competition is more than a talent show; it’s a celebration of Botswana’s vibrant spirit and a testament to the transformative power of gospel music. Through this platform, we aim to connect communities, foster unity, and uplift hearts.”

He said, “We are excited to launch the Poso Gospel Icon. This has been a long time coming and we are looking forward to provide youth opportunities to explore and nurture their talent. We recognize the power and impact of music in our lives” mentioned the Brave Heart Managing Director, Joe Manuel.

The Poso Gospel Icon competition will run from December 2024 to March 2025, with auditions kicking off in Maun on Saturday 7th December 2024, followed by Palapye on Saturday 14th December 2024 and Gaborone on Saturday 25th January 2025. The journey will culminate in a televised grand finale that promises to celebrate Botswana’s rich musical talent.

The Poso Gospel Icon competition introduces a distinctive twist through the Kwala Tempa Posa initiative, designed to promote and preserve the art of letter writing.

Poso Gospel Icon initiative seamlessly aligns with Botswana Post’s commitment to enhancing digital solutions through platforms like Posa’it and PosoMoney. These innovations will simplify processes during the competition, from purchasing stamps to supporting contestants with secure digital payments, creating an accessible and connected experience for all.

The launch event also featured an interactive karaoke session and a performance by Khabara, a former Gospel Icon winner, symbolizing the transformative power of the competition. Botswana Post invites the public to join this inspiring journey by supporting contestants, attending events, and celebrating the rich harmony of Botswana’s gospel music talent.
