Alliance de France held a graduation ceremony for its Botswana Police Services (BPS) and Botswana Defence Force (BDF) new French language graduates.

Alongside English and Spanish, French is spoken across all continents. The French Ambassador to Botswana, His Excellency Olivier Brochenin attended the event.

Brochenin commended the relations between France and Botswana and said the event is a reflection of the continued diplomatic ties between the two countries.

“We have been with the [Botswana] defense forces … it’s a long-term partnership … we have been doing it for 30 years … we want to offer opportunities in our best schools”, he said.

Collonel Mosale represented BDF and thanked the French Embassy in Pretoria (South Africa) and Botswana for providing language training facilities. He also applauded the teaching services provided, saying, “Why can’t we have a big school and enroll 1000 students.”

Assistant Superintendent Masoba represented the Police services and commended the working relationship between Police Services and the French Embassy.

“We sent a number of officers to study about 20 and we have been offered by the embassy to send 12. We are sourcing out names … by next week. They will be in school.”

He thanked the France for their support in their diplomatic relations, saying “We have been working together and did a course in cryptocurrency in Mogoditshane, it was a success.”

Alliance de Francaise is attached to the French Embassy. It assists the embassy in a number of areas including providing an environment for people to experience French culture through cuisine, language, cultural experiences.

The institution holds functions on Fridays, which are open to the public. Alliance de Francaise is located directly opposite University of Botswana’s main gate along the main road (Mobuto Drive)”.
