The inaugural Engineers Forum is scheduled to take place on the 29 – 31st July 2019 in Gaborone to provide engineers with a platform for sharing experiences, lessons and good practices in an effort to bolster industry wide improvement for national benefit.

It will also be used as a platform to raise issues stimulating dialogue on value of engineers, finding practical innovative and creative solutions impacting economy and ensuring credibility and integrity of engineering in Botswana.

“The Forum endeavours to bring players in the built environment, local and international engineering experts, policymakers, procuring entities and consumers of engineering services,” said Clare Mosarwa, Project Manager of Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

She said, “The forum will provide opportunity for dialogue on key topics that are of interest to the engineering community and others.”

The event is themed ‘Fostering Engineering Innovation and Creativity through effective partnerships – key to sustainable service delivery.’

The objectives of the forum will include highlighting role of engineering society in achievement of sustainable development and creating effective partnerships amongst key stakeholders.

It is hoped that it will create much needed impetus for renewed engineering investment in areas such as sustainable sources of food, innovative farming, processing and green preservation technologies.

It is also believed it could catalyse development of open data infrastructure that creates public web based freely accessible data for knowledge sharing and support in innovation.

“Engineers are challenged to meet the needs of a growing global population whilst minimizing the pressure on our planets resources,” said Mosarwa.

She said, “It demands adoption of user centric approach to engineering innovation and development.”
