The Minister of Health and Wellness Lemogang Kwape has revealed that the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Botswana is 13 after collection of 3464 specimens. Officials say 3115 people have already been tested by health officials and 3102 of these individuals tested negative.

These figures were released as officials begin to embark on a massive testing campaign to halt any local transmission and prevent any further escalation in the corona virus figures with most people staying at home to stop upsurge of new COVCID-19 cases and transmission from one locality to another.

Statistics Botswana (SB) and Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW)  will be conducting a 28 day testing for corona virus. It’s a national sampling that will test 10,000 people and anyone can be tested

Already an estimated 1600 people who were quarantined as of 24 March 2020, have been released with no new cases of corona virus reported say officials.

According to WHO, the challenge for many developing countries in dealing with large clusters or community transmission affected by corona virus is not whether they can do the same – it’s whether they will. Some countries are struggling with a lack of capacity.

A significant number of developing countries are struggling with a lack of resources.

In the past two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China has increased 13-fold, and the number of affected countries has tripled. According to World Health Organization (WHO), there are now more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries, and 4,291 people have lost their lives.
