The Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Service has been operating some essential services especially the water sector during the COVID-19 lockdown period but some of its services especially in the Land Management portfolio were closed.
Ms Bonolo E Khumotaka, Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services said, “In opening the services it was critical to ensure that the ones that are contributing to the recovery economy (at individual, organizational and national level) are considered first. The services that I will be talking to were agreed by both the Public Sector and the Private Sector within the Land and Water Sector.”
She said, “This means employees from both sectors are returning to work but adhering to the Ministry of Health and Wellness guidelines.”
These services include Survey for registration of Titles, Survey diagram submission, examination and approval Valuation of Property Conveyancing Deeds Registration (Transfers and to enable individuals to apply for Mortgage loans) Property Management, (Malls, etc) Lease Management Lease Renewals, Vacation, Payments and Registration of New Leases) – this applies to properties that Government is renting from individuals or companies.
“It will also include Investor Facilitation (For Lease Registration to enable these Investors to be assisted by the Funders/banks WATER SECTOR, Operation and Maintenance of Bulk Water Transfer Infrastructure and Water Supply and Distribution,” said Khumotaka.
The Scope of services offered during phase 2 of the lockdown will also include Water reconnections and bowsing services. This has improved coverage from 85% to 95% with physical supply points totaling 258 across the country and the Maintenance and repair of pipe bursts and leakages, most of which were attended before the affected villages experienced supply stress.
Maintenance and repair of sewage systems and spillages; Purchasing of prepaid tokens at Revenue Offices on Mondays and Thursdays; Outsourced Services, Sanitation Services, Filed Monitoring, Borehole Services (These will be allowed within zones), Siting, Registration, Information o Inspection, Rehabilitation, Boat Registration and Spraying as well as Investor and Institutional facilitation.
