The Africa Economic Leadership Council(AECL) today launched a local chapter of its organisation in Botswana as it pursues an ambitious agenda to engage with private business leaders, entrepreneurs and political leaders to double intra African trade over the next 5 years.
It endeavours through networking and collaboration on platforms they are developing to provide its members with opportunities that will help their businesses grow beyond their local geographical boundaries. Its members will enjoy this growth trajectory sustainably through intensive training, matchmaking, funding , exhibiting opportunities and ongoing business support.
It is supporting the African Union(AU) agenda 2063 which is Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into global powerhouse.
The organizations founding partners who originate from neighbouring South Africa and Namibia, met whilst studying in the United States and run their own businesses in their respective countries of origin. The AECL is registered as a private organisation and is self-funded.
Percy Morapedi Koji, Chairman of Africa Economic Leadership Council(AELC), said “We are self-funded and have no foreign funding.”
He said, “We believe collaborative engagement should not be limited to bi lateral discussions and embassies.”
AECL will support big data, artificial intelligence, advancing of cryptographies, crypto-assets, lending, crowdfunding platforms together with online trading.
Reduction of environment of environmental risks and ecological scarcities that aims for sustainable development without degrading the environment. Drive for shareholder in mining industry, capacity building programmes which support SMME ICT enterprises and aims to encourage the growth of African ICT industries as well as support women in business.
“We(Botswana) see ourselves as an epi centre for doing business,” said Nkoloi Nkoloi, Former Ambassador to Japan in official opening remarks at Cresta in Gaborone.
He said, “We(Africans) must think local and act global.”
AECL will generate revenue through the development of a subscription driven membership platform and various fundraising activities like Golf Day’s. It has been launched in 3 countries and expects to do further launches in DRC and Lesotho before the end of the year.
Godfrey Bonno Molefe, Chief Financial Officer for the Local Enterprise Authority(LEA), said “When we as Africans get into business we need to get out of our comfort zone.”

It is also committed to supporting reduction of environmental risks and ecological scarcities that by embracing sustainable development and green development without degrading the environment.
Together with driving for shareholder participation in mining industry, capacity building programmes which support SMME ICT enterprises and aims to encourage the growth of African ICT industries as well as support women in business.
