The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) and the Botswana Credit Insurance and Guarantee Company Botswana (BECI) have consummated a partnership agreement to establish a long lasting relationship for mutual co-operation in export credit insurance, exchange of information and knowledge between the two institutions.

“The signing of this MoU today aims to enhance co-operation in promoting export trade and investment in Botswana through the advancement of export credit and investment insurance instruments as offered by BECI to Botswana exporters,” said Keletsositse Olebile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BITC.

He said, “Our co-operation with BECI will support the Botswana’s trade and export industry and likewise, serve as a means for seeking mutual co-operation in promoting regional trade and strategic development of our economic sectors.”

The partnership is designed to consolidate support for SMME’s operating in Botswana and encourage them to export and to provide solutions to meet their funding problems.

It is also expected to be instrumental in advancing and sustaining the country’s national economic diversification drive as well as support for export of Botswana goods and services by providing a wide range of export credit and investment insurance/reinsurance products.

Olebile, said “This agreement will further open up the potential for our two institutions working together, to make significant contributions toward unlocking the full potential for delivering the much needed developmental impact on our region.”
