The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) would like to advise all relevant stakeholders that import licences previously issued by the Authority to majority citizen oil companies will remain valid from 1st April to 30th September 2024. This is in line with Regulation 56(2) of the BERA (Petroleum Products) Regulations of 2024 which provides for a transition period of six (6) months. During this period, majority citizen owned companies shall also apply to the Authority for new import licences.
Any majority citizen owned company that has not made an application for a licence to import petroleum products within the transitional period shall be deemed to be unlicensed.
