billy ocean small3Popular Trinidadian-born English recording artist Billy Ocean (born Leslie Sebastian Charles) whose songs had dominated the R&B scene in the 1970’s and 1980’s will perform at the Hampton Jazz Festival scheduled for the 24th March 2018 at Duma FM grounds.

He will be accompanied by Salif Keita, Amanda Black, Zahara and a host of top local acts like the Afro Jazz musician Nnunu Ramogotsi, Socca Maruakgomo, Ati, Thato Jessica, Thabang Garogwe, Ndingo Johwa, DJ Jazzy Pete and DJ Bush in an event where 6,000 – 8,000 revelers are expected.

“People should expect samples of new material at event. There will be a teaser for my new album,” revealed local Jazz sensation Nnunu Ramogotsi.

She said, “I have been working on a new album for about 2 years now.”

The Hampton Festival whose budget totals a staggering P4.5million is now in its 5th year and a host of new features are planned like limiting the VIP section to 200 people in an effort to deliver a world class event with beverages provided by AVANI hotel.

A car park of 4 hectares has also been set aside for revelers and 25 security guards will watch over the vehicles of revelers whilst a shuttle will ferry some patrons to DUMA FM grounds for event to avoid congestion. Early bird tickets costing P399 are already sold out indicated event organizers.

“This is an ideal platform for us to engage with our Botswana customers and we have committed to a 5 year partnership and we want event to grow into one of the biggest Jazz festivals in the region,” said Masego Masilo, Country Manager for SA Express.
