On the 18th – 20th May, Sandton will host the Arnold Classic Africa, one of the multi-sports festivals which The Arnold Sport Festival will hold on six-continents in 2018.
All events will feature professional bodybuilding and related contests, amateur bodybuilding, strength and combat sports, a large health and fitness expo and youth events that vary from continent to continent.
“The Arnold Classic Worldwide brand is now the largest series of multi-sport festivals in the world and we look forward to making each of our Arnold Classic weekends better than our previous best,” said James J. Lorimer, CEO of Classic Productions, Inc., who co-founded the Arnold Classic in Columbus with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2017, Arnold commented that he was excited to see the festival grow in Africa.
He shared that the classic is not just about pro athletes but about providing a development platform for all athletes, across age, race and genders to showcase their talent and hard work. Edward King Maloiso is one such athlete who has been given the opportunity to showcase his talent and hard work as the first Motswana to participate in the Arnold Classic Africa 2018. Edward’s career as a body builder begins in 2008, he has since participated in many national and international competitions earning him 11 Junior Championship titles.
However, the Arnold Classic Africa presents a new challenge for Maloiso as it will be a regional world class event. His management Major Muscles Fitness has therefore embarked on a large campaign “#RoadToArnoldClassic” to ensure that Edward not only has the best fitness and medical team supporting him but solid sponsors and the nation’s support.
On the 4th of May, Major Muscles team will host the Road to Arnold Classic Gala Dinner, a fundraising event aimed at celebrating the sponsors, individuals and athletes who have contributed to body building in Botswana over the past decade.
The show has a special focus on women as Major Muscles is focused on growing the sport amongst women in the coming decade.
