The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority(BERA) has announced increases in the price of retail pump prices for petrol grades, diesel and illuminating paraffin.
Retail pump price of unleaded petrol 93 will be increased by 61 thebe per litre; retail pump price of unleaded petrol 95 will be increased by 61 thebe per litre; retail pump price of diesel will be increased by 106 thebe per litre and retail pump price of paraffin will be increased by 97 thebe per litre.
“The above changes take effect from 00:01hrs on Wednesday, 25th October 2023. The adjustments are based on the analysis of the movement of petroleum products prices for the month of September 2023,” said Batsumi Rankokwane acting Chief Executive Officer for the Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority(BERA).
Average Brent crude oil price increased by 8.8% from US$85.10 in August 2023 to US$92.59 per barrel in September 2023. Both the crude oil price and refined products prices have been increasing since July 2023. Between August and September 2023, prices of petrol grades, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased by 2%, 4.39% and 5.48% respectively.
“The increase in international oil prices continues to be influenced by supply related factors,” said Rankokwane.
