The case in which the State v Kenneth Kereng and 17 others being accused of 126 counts of racketeering and money laundering suffered another unexpected setback in the Village court when the Magistrate Goodwill Gibson Mafoki, an associate of former spy chief Isaac Kgosi asked to recuse himself from the case after the former spy chief was added to the list of accused in this never ending legal drama.
Kenneth Kereng, Bakang Seretse, Khulco Proprietary Limited, Basis Points Capital Proprietary Limited, M and B Properties Proprietary Limited, Sadique Kebonang, Raging bull Proprietary Limited, Zein Kebonang, Mogomosti Seretse Leromog Proprietary Limited, Kago Stimela, STM Holdings Proprietary Limited, Kgori Capital Proprietary limited, Sharifa Noor, Alphonse Ndzinge, Tshepo Julius Bojela, Mpho Kerekeng and now Isaac Kgosi are being accused of benefitting from the proceeds of crime.
“The Director of Public Prosecutions alleges that all the accused and other persons, known and unknown to the state and directly or indirectly involved therein, operated and/or managed the enterprise and/or participated in the conduct of the affairs of the enterprise and/or were employed by the enterprise,” said Wesson Manchwe for the Department of Public Prosecutions(DPP).
He added, “That such conduct and or operation and/or management and/or involvement in and/or employment by and/or participation in the conduct of the affairs of the enterprise occurred through a pattern of racketeering activity, that is, those acts set forth in counts 3 to 126 each of which constitutes a separate act of racketeering.”
The matter will be called again at 9am on the 19th March 2020 at the Regional Magistrate Court.
