19th April 2024

The Alliance Française of Gaborone (AFG), in partnership with Maitisong Theatre, is delighted to present an incredible dance performance featuring Vincent Mantsoe, a South African-born choreographer and dancer based in France. This event will take place on the 26th of April 2024 at 6:30pm.

Vincent Sekwati Koko Mantsoe’s recognition as a choreographer, performer, and teacher demonstrates that successful integration into the performance arena as a contemporary artist does not require disavowing one’s cultural heritage.

For two weeks, Vincent Mantsoe will train nine dancers in Botswana and teach them his KOBA dance technique as part of the Creative Camps Festival with Maitisong Theatre. On the 26th, they will all perform together on Maitisong’s stage at 6:30pm.

The showcase will close with a presentation of Vincent Mantsoe’s solo piece titled “IZILO,” telling the gripping story of a man navigating survival after losing his dignity. Tickets are on sale now on https://www.webtickets.co.bw/v2/Performance.aspx?itemid=5204399&smartshopper=

On the 27th of April, in the morning at Maitisong Theatre, Vincent Mantsoe will give an open dance class, free and open to the general public, allowing participants to immerse themselves in his world.

The Alliance Française of Gaborone is a cultural hub that belongs to a worldwide non-profit network promoting languages and offering diverse cultural, social events, and artistic activities.
